Eurofins expands Food & Environment testing footprint in Ireland with the acquisition of Biosearch (NI) Limited

On July 1st Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK and Ireland completed the acquisition of Biosearch, a leading Food and Environment testing laboratory in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Established in 1989 Biosearch performs a wide range of analytical tests to support the Food, Feed and Environmental compliance requirements of their valued customer base. With a strong competence in microbiology and nutritional analysis, Biosearch excel in their deep-rooted commitment to provide market leading customer service.

Paul Mc Gillicuddy, Managing Director for Eurofins Food and Environment Testing Ireland, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Biosearch and its talented team of 38 staff to the Eurofins Group.

“We have enjoyed positive cooperation between our two companies for a number of years. This supported a very collaborative acquisition process and we are excited about the potential to provide an enhanced service to all our customers across the island of Ireland.

“The Biosearch laboratory will reinforce Eurofins’ existing footprint as well as expand client reach in the UK and Ireland. We in turn look forward to strengthening the Biosearch portfolio and operating footprint by providing access to the full range of services and capabilities of the UK & Ireland business as well as the wider Eurofins Group.”

The site, based in Belfast, is within easy reach of all major access routes, enabling the team to continue offering customers a reliable 7 days a week, 365 days a year, service.

This acquisition follows the recent investment by Eurofins in a state-of-the-art Food Nutrition and Environment Chemistry campus in Cork and capacity increase in its Food Microbiology facility in Waterford, underlining the business’s long-term commitment to the Irish market.
