News: Eurofins pioneers Allergen multi-screening
15-04-2011: Eurofins has developed a methodology that allows direct detection of proteins from allergenic compounds in a single analysis using liquid chromotography/mass spectrometry (LC MS/MS). Current (ELISA) methodologies only indirectly detect allergens typically one at a time. The new method allows multiple direct detection of proteins from allergenic compounds in a single analysis using mass spectrometry. It allows simple and easy identification of many allergens in complex food matrices, which leads to better risk management for food manufacturers, and ultimately, safer products for the consumers. Dioxin Analysis at Eurofins Laboratories
On December 6 the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) announced a recall of all Irish pork products slaughtered after 1 September. These pork products potentially contain levels of dioxins in excess of the levels permitted by Commission Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006. This product recall has been launched as a result of dioxins detected during routine laboratory testing. The latest information released indicates that the contamination has arisen from a contaminated feed supplied to ten Irish farms. Eurofins offer an accredited dioxin analysis using HR GC-MS/MS.
