Ben AllisonEurofins Food and Water Testing UK and Ireland has announced the appointment of Ben Allison as Commercial Director as part of a commitment to enhancing client services.

Ben will oversee the sales and marketing teams and joined Eurofins after more than seven years at British Sugar where he worked in a number of commercial roles.

Highlighting his immediate objectives, Ben said that providing excellent customer service was “absolutely paramount” to succeed in such a competitive industry.

He said: “I’m keen to hear from our customers, to understand how we can continue to support their businesses, and understand what we can do more of to ensure our commercial relationships continue to go from strength to strength.

“Building stronger partnerships with our customers will be critical to success and in the recent past we’ve grown both organically and through acquisition so that’s something that we’d like to see continue in the future.”

Ben said that following the acquisition of Exova and ILS in 2016, Eurofins was in a position to provide a centre of service and technical excellence and leverage the company’s scale.

“Eurofins has huge capability in our sister businesses in Europe and further afield so I’m also keen to understand what more we can offer from those laboratories and how we can work closely together with their technical teams in supporting our clients requirements.

“In addition, while Eurofins is a hugely successful global testing group, it still allows its individual businesses to have a high degree of autonomy over how they operate, with a real encouragement to think as entrepreneurially as possible. That’s a rare, but really exciting, environment to be working in.”

Phil Coles, Managing Director of Eurofins Food Testing UK and Ireland, said: “Ben’s appointment is a deliberate move to meet our growth objectives and to meet and exceed our clients’ requirements going forward.

“He brings with him a pedigree in new business and in developing and maintaining strong commercial relationships that will be key to the future performance of the business.”

Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK and Ireland is made up of 11 world-class laboratories and is the world leader in food, feed and water testing, offering a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques to support customers' increasingly stringent quality and food safety standards.

It employs more than 300 people and has recently invested £1.5 million on a two-storey extension to its laboratory and head office in Wolverhampton and £7m overall in new laboratories and laboratory extensions.

The company is part of Eurofins Scientific, an international life sciences company which provides a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries worldwide.
