What is Occupational Health?

For many people, work is essential not only for financial stability but also for career satisfaction and social interaction. However, it can also pose significant challenges to mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Jobs involving night shifts, working at heights, exposure to hazardous substances, or intense physical labour—such as those in construction, manufacturing, transportation, forestry, and healthcare—are particularly high-risk. Many employers provide health-checks and wellness programmes to protect their employees and themselves.

Why choose us?

We have over 25 years of experience in Occupational health testing, are ISO 15189 accredited and we offer a comprehensive test menu with an integrated specialist sample transport service, Eurofins Lablink. We strive to deliver excellent turnaround times and have built a knowledgeable Client Services team to deal with your queries.

Drugs of Abuse Testing

We offer 4 options for Drugs of Abuse Testing.

OPTION 1: The most economical route is testing urine in-house.

We perform a series of alcohol and drug screens on our Abbott Alinity c instruments in our laboratory, detecting enzyme activity and quantifying specific substances in urine samples using immunological reactions. You can order an individual drug, or you can choose from a drug profile.

Ecstasy, Methadone, Barbiturates, Cannabis, Amphetamine,  Methamphetamine Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Opiates, Alcohol

Additional Information

TAT is 24 hours. Visit our Clinical Chemistry Primary Sample Manual on our website for more details.

Limitations: The Drugs Of Abuse assays (with the exception of ethanol and urinary creatinine) are screening tests which provide a preliminary positive or negative results. If clinically indicated, confirmation by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) is required.

Note: a sample's pH and creatinine levels are measured to check for specimen integrity, which can be compromised by dilution or substitution.

OPTION 2: Chain-of-Custody – Point-of-Care Kits

Eurofins Biomnis provide a Chain-of-Custody Drugs of Abuse Service

We have a strict chain of custody procedure in place, to guarantee the integrity and traceability of sample from the time of collection through to the analysis in Abbott Laboratories. These tests are screening tools and therefore all presumptive positives require a non-negotiable confirmation test by the Abbott Toxicology Laboratory.

Eurofins Biomnis provide certified training to Occupational Health Specialists who carry out the Chain of Custody (COC), Point of Care testing (POCT). Before the training commences, please order your test kits and order a few chain-of-custody kits at the same time in the event of non-negative test results.

How to Access Results

CDx Connect is our secure results portal and has excellent search functionality. There is an Approver who registers and can then allow any number of his/her team to access the system for test results.  Here are 3 key benefits for a busy practitioner.

  1. You may be waiting on many test results for the same patient, some tests take longer than others – Cdx allows you to see results immediately once authorised and published. These are called partial results
  2. If you have a worrying case, you can set a text or email alert for when the results are published.
  3. You can bulk print patient’s results for specific tests e.g. LDL over a specific period e.g. 6 months to help monitor their response to a new medicine

To get set up, complete an authorisation form, found on our resource page for Healthcare Professionals and email it to marketing@ctie.eurofinseu.com
