Informed Consent for Genetic Testing

Dear Colleagues,

In terms of section 71 (2) (b) of the Data Protection Act 2018, enacted to adopt the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) into Irish law, and further to a recent INAB inspection, we are required to obtain written informed consent from data subjects for any genetic testing performed in our laboratory or referred by us to a third-party laboratory.

Therefore with effect from 01/08/2018, we must receive a signed informed consent form from the patient to be able to process any requested genetic test.

A genetic test consent form is available on our website: http://bit.ly/genetic_consent.

Alternatively, a copy of any other original informed consent form obtained by you from the patient may be included with the request form.

A combined genetic test request and consent form is also available on our website: http://bit.ly/rqfandconsent

We would kindly ask that you advise all relevant staff of this bulletin and implement this requirement to ensure no disruption to your service.

If you have any queries about this important bulletin please do not hesitate to contact us at sales@eurofins-biomnis.ie.
